Minister Giddings Tours Ongoing Road Projects in Montserrado County
Monrovia, Liberia: The Minister of Public Works, Roland Layfette Giddings, has undertaken his first official tour of 2026 in Montserrado County to inspect ongoing road construction projects and assess their level of progress. The tour formed part of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring quality delivery and timely completion of critical infrastructure across the county.
As you may recall, the Ministry declared October 15, 2025 as an official date set for the commencement of all civil works across the country, and asked all of its contractors to remain adherent to the schedule. Interestingly, today's inspection came on the wheels of this declaration, knowing that it marks exactly three months after it was made in late 2025.
During the inspection exercise, the Minister and his team visited fifteen (15) project sites, including Bushrod Island, Brewerville, Dixville, New Georgia–Bassa Town Road linking Caldwell, Chicken Soup Factory Road, SKD Boulevard, East & West Overpass bridges along the Tubman Boulevard, the Peace and Paco Islands connection to SKD Boulevard, Allison Street connection to Old Road, and the Soul Clinic Road, among others.
With the exception of the Chicken Soup Factory Road, where Minister Giddings expressed concern over the slow pace of work, he stated that he was largely impressed with the level of progress at most of the project sites. He particularly commended the significant advancements made on the construction of the overpass bridges, describing them as encouraging and reflective of quality and standard engineering.
However, the representatives of QE24, the contractor responsible for the construction of the Chicken Soup Factory Road, assured Minister Giddings that actual pavement will commence by mid-February 2026. The Minister ended his tour with his team of engineers in Central Monrovia, where there is massive rehabilitation of potholes.
