MPW Forms Part of the Orientation Workshop on Open Government Partnership Reporting Template and Dashboard
Monrovia, Liberia, 02 July 2025 – The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), in partnership with the Open Government Partnership (OGP) National Secretariat and other key stakeholders, convened an orientation workshop focused on the OGP Reporting Template and Dashboard. The initiative aimed to equip stakeholders with the tools and knowledge required to effectively track and report on commitments outlined in the 5th National Action Plan (NAP), reinforcing Liberia’s dedication to transparency and accountable governance.
The Open Government Partnership, launched globally in 2011, fosters inclusive governance by encouraging collaboration between governments and civil society organizations. Member countries voluntarily commit to enhancing public access to information, increasing citizen participation, implementing anti-corruption measures, and using technology to improve governance. In early 2025, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. endorsed Liberia’s 5th NAP—a collaborative framework designed to promote sustainable development through open governance principles.
Opening the session, Ms. Korlue D. Jaygbeh of the OGP Secretariat welcomed participants and emphasized openness and active engagement throughout the workshop. Speaking on the importance of the orientation, Deputy Minister for Administration at MICAT and Liberia’s OGP point of contact, Mr. Johnny S. Tarkpah, highlighted the workshop as a follow-up to the earlier launch of the 5th NAP. He stressed that although there were initial delays, the process had gained traction and that the training was crucial for accurate data collection and reporting to both domestic and international partners.
A key presentation was delivered by Mr. W. Lawrence Yealue, II, Country Representative of Accountability Lab and Co-Chair of the OGP National Steering Committee. He urged participants to take the training seriously, noting that proper use of the reporting tools would enhance Liberia’s global image in governance and transparency. He stressed the need for timely and precise reporting to reflect Liberia’s genuine commitment to reform.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Rita Gbanlekpeh of the OGP National Secretariat, who encouraged swift application of the lessons learned. She called on participants to maintain momentum and prioritize Liberia’s progress. The orientation is expected to significantly strengthen Liberia’s ability to meet its OGP commitments, fostering citizen trust, promoting accountability, and delivering impactful governance outcomes through the 5th National Action Plan.
The Ministry of Public Works was fully represented through a team led by Jocelia Tarplah, Deputy Minister for Rural Development & Community Services.
